Tiago Morin started to study music at Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa in 1992. He first studied the piano with Professor Fátima Fraga, and graduated in Professor Maria Luiza da Gama Santos’ keyboard class.
In 2005 he started to study classical guitar at Escola de Guitarra Duarte Costa with Professor Miguel Costa. In 2006 he tutored 5 beginner students at this school. In 2008/2009 he volunteered at a voluntary organisation teaching classical guitar to 6 students.
In 2007 he continued to study the guitar at Academia de Amadores de Música with Professor José Manuel Mesquita Lopes, and later that year at the Conservatório de Música D. Dinis with the same professor. In 2011 he graduated in guitar at the latter academy with 19/20, having graduated that same year in Gregorian Chant at Instituto Gregoriano de Lisboa.
He was admitted at Alicante Academy of Music (first on ranking) to study with Professor Ignacio Rodes, and later at Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy to study with Professor Saulius S. Lipčius. He finished the Music Degree in Classical Guitar with an average grade of 9.4/10, and is presently attending the Masters in Music at Aveiro University.
In 2009, he won prizes in two Portuguese national guitar competitions: Ourém (third prize) and Leiria (second prize). In 2010 he was awarded the second prize in Leiria’s national competition (higher level category). In 2011 he won the first prize (ex-aequo) in the latter competition.
He participated in three editions of the International Guitar Festival promoted by Orfeão de Leiria, where he played on the final concert, and where he attended master classes with Alvaro Pierri, Carles Trepat, Carlo Marchione, Claudio Marcotulli, Ilda Coelho, Paulo Vaz de Carvalho and Tomás Camacho. In 2011 Tiago Morin participated in the fourth edition of the Curso Academia Alto Rendimiento where he attended Professor Ignacio Rodes’ masterclass.
He has been performing in duo (with flute) and guitar orchestra formations. He was frequently asked to represent the Conservatório de Música D. Dinis in official events at Odivela’s City Hall and at Fonoteca Municipal de Lisboa, among others. He plays weekly at religious celebrations.
He plays actually with a guitar by the luthier Arnoldo García.
In parallel Tiago Morin has pursued another career in Electrical Engineering. He graduated from Instituto Superior Técnico (Technical University of Lisbon) in 2006 with an average grade of 14/20. He worked for 4 years at a computer networks company, where he earned several IT certifications.
